Duties: Participate in field surveys to collect data pertaining to forest pests such as EAB, spotted lanternfly, and others. Implement forest pest treatment activities in assigned areas including tree injections. Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications to record the position of forest pests and other natural resources. Participate in activities associated with tree planting. Assess sites to identify planting locations. Plant trees, often with Fairfax County K-12 students. Perform basic tree maintenance to include mulching, watering, and pruning.
Salary: $17.19 to 22.93/hour
Hours: 20 to 40 hours/week
Minimum Qualification: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited two-year college with a degree in urban forestry, horticulture, environmental science, landscape design, agriculture or related field. Must be able to work in
harsh terrain and outdoor environments. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Note: *This position may not exceed 900 hours per calendar year. Individuals in these positions are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay.
