Children’s Education Intern

Green Spring Gardens is a 31-acre public garden with a 1784 Historic House that offers themed gardens for enjoyment, education, and inspiration. Visit our website at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/green-spring.

The Children’s Education Intern will assist with all aspects of Children’s Education: planning and conducting plant-based nature programs, assisting with all aspects of summer camps, gardening
and other light physical work, developing teaching aids, and administrative duties and special projects as assigned. This in-person internship will follow CDC guidelines for health safety.

This internship is generously funded by the Friends of Green Spring (FROGS).

Compensation: Interns will be temporary, part-time employees of the Fairfax County Park Authority. Compensation is $11.43/hour for up to 300 hours. Start and end dates are negotiable.

Requirements: Preference is given to applicants enrolled in a two or four year education program in environmental education, horticulture, botany, or a similar degree program. Preferred applicants will have experience with and/or commitment to educating children. Internship responsibilities may include developing a project proposal, conducting project activities, garden maintenance, and presenting a written and oral project report.
