Oak Hill Farms Gardner Position

Position: Gardener
Status: Seasonal, Full-time
Compensation: $20/hr (TBD)

Job description:
Oak Hill Farms, once home to President James Monroe, is a privately owned national historic landmark located in Aldie, Virginia. We are looking for a gardener to help maintain the gardens and the main house. This is a seasonal position working roughly March through November and up to 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Some of the tasks may include the following but not limited to:

  • Tree and shrub pruning
  • Flower deadheading
  • Weed pulling
  • Planting, transplanting and removal of plants
  • Mulching

These are very typical tasks in the garden so whether it’s a new experience for you or if you’re seasoned but are looking for an environment where you can learn about new plants and how they change through the seasons while on the job, this is a good opportunity. There is no public appearance currently so consider this a very relaxing and easygoing position.

The requirements for this position are:

  • Preferably a Horticulture student at NVCC
  • A self-starter
  • Plant/Nature nerd

These are the only requirements. As you can see, we are looking for a hard-working plant lover.
