NOVA Horticulture Fall Day/Career Forum 11/19 3-5pm

All are welcome to attend the First Ever- Fall Day/Career Forum at NOVA Horticulture, on 11/19/2024 from 3-5pm. This is a new event to pair with NOVA Horticulture’s Annual Career Fair which has been held every February or March since 1978 (Stay tuned for the 47th Annual Horticulture Career Fair in February 2025, details TBA).

The event for 11/19 started as a career panel for the HRT 100 class, but the overwhelmingly positive response from Industry professionals (including 5 NOVA Horticulture Alumni!), has lead to the official expansion into a Horticulture Fall Career Day which will be set up as  mini exhibition/forum. See the flier and Attendee list below.

The format will be as follows:

Welcome and Introductions from 3pm-3:45pm in room LS 114

Individual and Small Group Discussions with Industry Professionals in rooms LS 114 and LS 102 from 3:50 – 5pm

Arboriculture, Conservation and Landscape Apprentice- Oak Spring Garden Foundation

Those still looking for a summer opportunity, this is for you! Oaksprings Garden Foundation is looking for an Arboriculture, Conservation, and Landscape Apprentice for the summer 2023 season! The Oak Spring Garden Foundation is based in Upperville, Virginia, and operates with a mission to share Rachel Lambert Mellon’s home, garden, estate, and Library with the public. The Foundation inspires and facilitates scholarship and public dialogue on the history and future of plants. This includes but is not limited to the culture of gardens and landscapes and the importance of plants for human well-being. This apprenticeship position will work closely with the Biodiversity Management Team, and gain experience in facets of horticulture such as invasive plant management, landscape maintenance, arboriculture, and turf care. If this interests you, don’t hesitate to apply! Their summer season begins May 2023 which is right around the corner!

Are you still looking for something to help you satisfy your Cooperative Education requirement? Well, look no further than Oak Spring Garden Foundation! A favorite of the NOVA Horticulture Professors for various reasons, this historical garden located in Upperville, is looking to place interns in multiple teams! So if you’re looking for an internship opportunity in Communication, Arboriculture, Conservation and Landscape (ACL), Biodiversity Management, Gardens, Biocultural Conservation Farming, Education and Outreach, or Culinary and Hospitality, don’t hesitate to apply! Opportunities are available from May-early June through August-early September, depending on the availability of the successful applicants.

Well if so, Oak Spring Garden Foundation has the opportunity for you! Oak Spring Garden Foundation’s Biocultural Conservation Farm is now accepting applications for two (yes that’s right TWO!) full-time seasonal farm apprentices! This could be your opportunity to satiate an educational hunger while feeding others!
