Awards Committee Accepting Nominations for Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence and Outstanding Service to the College Awards

The Awards Committee is now considering nominations for the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the Outstanding Service to the College Awards. The Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence is given each year to only one faculty member in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and provides the recipient with a $5,000 check. Nominees must have a minimum of five years of service in the VCCS in which at least 75 percent of their workload included teaching responsibilities. Please send nominations for this award to Dr. Chris Arra, chair of the Awards Committee, by March 16. Include a brief statement of support (no more than 500 words) with the nomination.

The Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation sponsors the Outstanding Service to the College Awards which includes a $1,500 check, a plague, and recognition at both the fall commence- ment and foundation dinner. There are three awards each year to classified staff, three to teaching faculty, one to non-teaching faculty (counselors, librarians, administrators, instructional technologists), and one to an adjunct faculty member. Nominees must have three consecutive years of service and not received the award in the past. Please take the time to nominate a colleague, collect the signatures required on form 105- 065, and write a one page statement of support. Then please ask your nominee to complete a one page state- ment of accomplishments and send the package to Arra no later than March 16.

Please direct any questions concerning these awards or the nomination process to Dr. Charles Errico.
