Providing Significant Learning Experiences to Our Students

April 12 and April 26
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
CG 218, Annandale Campus
Facilitator: Barbara Crain (LO), Assistant Professor of Geography and Director for Geography

This workshop will provide you with a roadmap to an interactive and engaged classroom. The project, “Significant Learning Experiences,” is based on Dee Fink’s groundbreaking book, “Creating Significant Learning Experiences” in which Fink argues for identification and integration of such experiences into the course.

First, attendees will look at course objectives and how these goals tie in with the material selected in the syllabus independently of the textbook. Next, attendees will look at the quest for learning experiences that may be remembered long-term, the presenter’s attempt to create such classroom experience for students, and how the changes affect students and teachers alike. Please come with a syllabus to modify.
