Physical Therapist Assistant Class Meet in a Unique Space

Physical Therapist Assistant classEach year, MEC Adjunct Professor Abby Mandel’s Rehabilitation Procedures class holds a special session outside in the grass so students can spread out.

“In 25 years of teaching this class, it has never rained,” Mandel said.

So, exercising her creativity on a blustery, rainy Tuesday, Mandel moved her class to the fourth level of the MEC garage.

Physical Therapist Assistant class The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program is a committed contributor to the physical therapy community of Northern Virginia. The program currently offers a two-year, full-time course of study. PTA majors develop skills through classes, labs, field trips and clinical affiliations. Students gain a sense of personal and professional fulfillment in a career built around helping others recover from illness or injury. MEC’s PTA program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Upon completion of the two-year program, students are eligible to take the examination leading to licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
