On Tuesday, September 25, as part of the Annandale Campus Hispanic Heritage Month activities, the Annandale Office of Student Activities in conjunction with the Hispanic Student Union (HSU) and Sigma Delta Mu, hosted Paella on the Plaza. Master Chef Mario Barreda prepared three giant pans of paella while students observed the demonstration and asked questions about the process and ingredients.
HSU and their advisor Judy Benavides served approximately 400 students samples of chorizo and chicken paella, chicken paella and vegetarian paella. It was quickly and eagerly consumed.
A few days later on Thursday evening, September 27, the Annandale Office of Student Activities, also in conjunction with the HSU, hosted Postre y Café in the Barnes & Noble Café in observance. Students, faculty and staff enjoyed tres leches cake along with a rich Mexican hot chocolate while enjoying the romantic stylings of Trio Anaya, a traditional Trio Romantico consisting of three guitars and voices in perfect harmony.
