Twana Miller joined the NOVA Student Services team at the Medical Education Campus in August 2012 as an adult career coach/experiential learning-job placement coordinator. In her role as adult career coach, Miller will assist adult participants with developing individualized education and career plans, securing college or training program admissions and financial aid, and acquiring needed support services through human service agencies and community based organizations. She will work primarily with Veterans, the unemployed and the underemployed either enrolled in or in search of educational opportunities in select allied health or other occupational and technical training programs.
Miller will provide participants referred to her with connections to relevant employers and experiential learning opportunities such as cooperative education and internships available either through the College, local employers, or other partnering entities in the region. She will also work with participants to provide services for job preparation and placement, which includes employment-related skills coaching, guidance in the job search process, assistance with the completion of employment applications, developing resumes and cover letters and preparing for various types of interviews.
Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Virginia State University and a Master of Arts in education and human development (concentration in human resource development) from The George Washington University. Over her career span of more than 20 years in both government and private industry, she has gained extensive knowledge and expertise in recruitment, training and employee development, performance coaching, group facilitation, reemployment services, workforce and career development.
