The Office of Pregnant and Parenting Student Support (OPPSS) kicked off its RED FLAG campaign on October 1. This public awareness campaign addresses intimate partner/dating violence and is designed with a “bystander intervention” strategy which encourages friends and others to say something when they see warning signs or “red flags” for intimate partner or dating violence.

OPPSS operates under the direction of the MEC’s Nursing Division to provide student support services to pregnant women, expectant fathers and newly parenting students in an effort to increase student success and retention. The goals of the OPPSS are to (1) improve services for pregnant and newly parenting students at NOVA; (2) assist pregnant and newly parenting students experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking; (3) and raise awareness of these challenges.
