Bob Hull

Former Legislator Named Annandale Campus Community Outreach Specialist

Bob HullRobert D. “Bob” Hull, a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates, was recently named Community Outreach Specialist for the Annandale Campus.

“I am pleased that Bob has accepted this position,” said Annandale Provost Barbara Saperstone. “He brings not only a deep understanding of the diverse communities around the Annandale campus but also an enthusiasm for working with people.”

Hull will provide leadership in building and promoting positive relationships between the Annandale Campus, its constituency groups and stakeholders in the campus service area. He will also build on-campus and off-campus awareness of NOVA activities, events, programs and services.

“I am excited to return to NOVA, where I earned my associate degree,” said Hull. “The community college system is one of the great jewels in the Commonwealth of Virginia and NOVA is the crown jewel. I am eager to spread the word about what the Annandale Campus has to offer.

“Many people do not realize the high quality of instruction at NOVA,” Hull continued. “Our class sizes are small, our faculty includes a large number of Ph.D.s and nationally and internationally recognized experts in their fields, and our tuition is low. That combined with our guaranteed admission agreements with Virginia universities provides a huge value to students.”

For 17 years, he represented the 38th House of Delegates district, which stretched from the Falls Church area to the edge of Springfield. Prior to his election, Hull served on the Park Authority and other Fairfax County boards and commissions.

A lifelong Falls Church area resident and product of Fairfax County Public Schools, Hull was awarded an A.S. (cum laude) in biology at NOVA. He then transferred to Virginia Tech to earn a B.S. in agronomy. Soon after, he came back to the Annandale Campus as an employee, working as a Biology Department lab technician, before returning to Virginia Tech to work on a master’s in plant pathology.

After leaving the legislature in 2010, Hull worked as a business consultant and served as director of development for Creative Cauldron, a nonprofit theater arts organization in Falls Church.
