Recently, NOVA expanded its social media outreach to include new venues in addition to its already established presence on Facebook, Twitter and others. As part of this, NOVA now has a page on Pinterest and is looking for faculty, staff and students who want to contribute.
The fastest growing social media site of 2012, Pinterest is a “virtual pinboard” that lets users share photos, allowing them to create collections of images based on themes, events, hobbies and interests. The purpose of NOVA’s Pinterest page is to provide a visual representation of NOVA to students, faculty, staff and the general public. It illustrates the multifaceted experiences that individuals who are part of the College enjoy – from diverse interactions to events, services, local activities and more.
NOVA’s Pinterest page currently features a variety of “boards,” akin to albums, with “pins” or photos of all things NOVA. This currently includes pictures of students, campuses, scenic shots from around the area, displays of school spirit, what’s new at the College, NOVA’s athletic teams, events like the Spring Fling and Welcome Week, and clippings of NOVA mentions in the news, to name a few.
NOVA invites all faculty, staff and students to contribute to these boards. Getting your photos featured on NOVA’s Pinterest page is easy. All the information you need, including where to send the photos, is available in our Submission Guidelines. These guidelines are also posted as the first board on the NOVA Pinterest page. In addition to the boards you see on the page now, NOVA is looking for photos of things you did during your summer break. Whether you made it a vacation or a staycation, we would like your contributions. The best submissions will be featured on a new board.
