Woodbridge Honors Program Supports GMU’s Fall for the Book Festival

Woodbridge Honors Program Supports GMU’s Fall for The Book FestivalOn September 26, the Woodbridge Campus Honors Program hosted famed poet and peace activist, Sonia Sanchez, as part of George Mason University’s Fall for the Book Festival. Sanchez, presented with the Busboys and Poets Award the evening before, generously granted a second reading for students at the Woodbridge Campus. Held in the new Blackbox Theater, Sanchez captivated students and faculty with her performance, reading from several poetry collections such as “shake loose my skin” and “Morning Haiku.” Woodbridge Honors Program Supports GMU’s Fall for The Book FestivalEnglish Assistant Professor Chalet Jean Baptiste, a long-time friend of Sanchez, came from the Manassas Campus to introduce her. A book signing followed for old and new fans.
