On November 14, NOVA partnered with the Educational Credit Management Corporation (ECMC) to host College Night for current and future college students at five NOVA campuses: Annandale, Alexandria, Loudoun, Manassas and Woodbridge. NOVA’s Financial Aid Department worked with ECMC, a financial non-profit organization, to organize this free event that allowed students and their families to learn about college admissions, the financial aid process, scholarships and other college-related topics. In addition, at each event location students were encouraged to enter a drawing for a chance to win
one of four $500 scholarships.
The highlight of the night was everyone’s anticipation for the drawing for the $500 scholarships provided by ECMC. Four winners, drawn randomly at the end of the event at each campus, needed to be present and registered to claim the scholarship. The event awarded 20 scholarships, for a total of $10,000 within the northern Virginia community. The winners were both current NOVA students and high school students from all around the area.
The College Night events had great turnout of attendees, with more than 350 students and family members participating throughout the five campuses. Staff members from campus financial aid offices, high school outreach coordinators, academic advising and counseling specialists were present to assist students with any questions. Free pizza and soft drinks were available for all attendees.
The Financial Aid Department at NOVA would like to thank all of the campus and departmental staff who worked to make this event a great success.
NOVA Financial Aid would also like to thank the
northern Virginia area Pizza Hut locations
for their support of College Night.
