On Feb. 21, Provost Brian Foley and the Medical Education Campus bid Kathy Thompson farewell and congratulated her on her new position at the College.

Kathy Thompson served for more than two years as the Medical Education Campus (MEC) high school and community outreach specialist. During her tenure, she established the This Week @ MEC newsletter, worked with Virginia Hospital Center to coordinate the annual summer Camp Med program for middle school students, led high school and community tours and coordinated many high profile events.

She participated on the MEC Safety Committee, NOVA Personnel Services Committee and Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Thompson also worked closely with NOVA’s other campus high school and community outreach specialists.

Provost Brian Foley said, “Kathy Thompson has served the Medical Education Campus with distinction. She has been a great asset to the Campus and has been influential with all of the MEC stakeholders in telling the MEC story. Her contributions have put the MEC in an extremely positive light with all of these stakeholders. She will be missed!”

On February 10, Thompson started her next journey with College Marketing and Communications. The MEC wishes her well and knows she will continue to succeed in this phase of her professional career, displaying the same level of passion and dedication.
