In the first of many events to come, the Alexandria Campus Learning and Technology Resource Division (LTR) headed by Dean Frances Villagran-Glover hosted the “Study ’Tech’niques” workshop May 1.
This come-as-you-are event saw nearly 100 students dropping by to learn about cool apps for studying from Instructional Support and Development, procedures from the Testing Center, databases from the Library and services from the Open Computer Centers.
Through their attendance and attention at each of the division’s tables, students were entered to win prizes, such as a Nexus Tablet, iTunes Gift Cards or a Google Chrome Key. The turnout was superb and the students walked away feeling that they had gained valuable information to help with their academic success.
LTR hosted another successful event May 8. Instructional Support and Development and the Open Computer Center hosted the “Microsoft Experience.” Nearly 30 members of the Alexandria Campus learning community were treated to lunch and a trip to the Microsoft store in Pentagon City. Once there, students learned about many new products, several of which are available on NOVA campuses. Microsoft Office 360 and One Note were just a couple of topics that were covered by the knowledgeable staff. The students were engaged with hands-on technology and were given practical solutions for keeping up with their academic career.
Keep an eye out for upcoming events from the Alexandria LTR Division as they continue to help foster student, faculty and staff success.
