Vice President George Gabriel, Deborah Rosen, Mark Mannheimer, Keri Bowman and Christina Hubbard attended the Achieving the Dream (ATD) “Working Families Support Network” (WFSN) Inaugural Forum in Indianapolis from June 22 to 24.
NOVA will implement an approach to the WFSN strategy beginning this summer in connection with ATD, Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and three other VCCS colleges. NOVA was selected to be the coordinating Virginia college based on a proposal submitted to ATD by Rosen and Gabriel.
The WFSN strategy is based on the Center for Working Families approach and has demonstrated success in helping low-income adults and their families achieve greater economic security by providing a range of support and services in an integrated manner.
NOVA is in a strong position to contribute to and benefit from additional ATD involvement. The College’s “GPS for Success” and “College Pathway Initiatives” are models for improving college access and success. NOVA will continue to build on the comprehensive use of data to achieve change.
Stay tuned for updates on this initiative.
