On June 13 and 14 faculty and staff from the Loudoun Campus and Reston Center participated in the 24th annual Taste of Reston festival sponsored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce. Taste of Reston is Northern Virginia’s largest outdoor food festival featuring delectable samplings from the region’s favorite eateries, live music, beer and wine gardens, family fun and games. More than 70,000 people attend the festival annually.
NOVA staff volunteers provided prospective students and community members with information about programs and services. Loudoun staff members met many alumni and current students who stopped by the booth to say “hello.”
The NOVA booth drew large crowds with complimentary NOVA water bottles, tumblers, shopping bags and other promotional goodies. The summer weather was beautiful, and the staff enjoyed the opportunity to participate in this well-organized and attended community event.
The NOVA booth was staffed for a total of 24 hours (12 hours Friday and 12 hours Saturday). Dedicated volunteers from the Loudoun Campus and Reston Center included Director of Off-Campus Sites Laura Siko; High School Outreach Coordinator Cathy Hall, Campus Community Relations Coordinator Tatyana Schum, Financial Aid Assistant Carolina Giron, ESL faculty Lauren Steck and Justin Hvitfeldt-Matthews, Communication Design faculty Jackie Gage and Julia Turner, Math faculty Karen Sandreczki and Michael Victorine, and Motorcycle Program manager Terry Hillerich.
