Health care is one of the fastest growing career fields in Northern Virginia and NOVA’s Workforce Development Division (WDD) is doing its part in training workers to meet this growing demand. On August 15, the WDD hosted its third Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony. This intense yearlong program graduated 16 new nurses who are eager to start making a difference in the lives of patients.
NOVA’s Practical Nursing Program (LPN) has consistently received positive reviews from students, thanks to the quality instruction and personal attention of the dedicated faculty and staff.
LPN Program Director Lundy Beard said, “One hundred percent of the 2013 LPN graduates are currently working in the health care field with 43 percent going on to RN school.”
Lundy anticipates similar numbers for the 2014 LPN program graduates. In the first three years, the LPN program has produced 45 graduates. The incoming LPN class is estimated to be the largest class to date with at least 24 students. This level of growth reflects the growing reputation of this program.
