If you had five minutes to share your passion, what would you say? And what if your presentation featured 20 slides that advance automatically every 15 seconds? Welcome to Ignite NOVA, an initiative by NOVA’s Achieving the Dream (ATD) Core Team that seeks to build community and foster connections in the classroom.
Created by O’Reilly Media and MAKE Magazine, Ignite events consist of a rapid-fire series of presentations inspired by the prompt “Enlighten us, but make it quick.” O’Reilly licenses groups across the globe to host independently organized events at which speakers use the unconventional format to share what they are most passionate about.
The newly licensed Ignite NOVA aims to foster collaboration and creativity among the various members of the NOVA community, and to create a platform for sharing ideas on the best ways to revolutionize teaching in the 21st century classroom. With Ignite’s unique format, participants will leave energized by the work of their peers and inspired to consider new ways to engage learners.
NOVA will hold its first Ignite event for faculty on Friday, October 24 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the CE Forum at the Annandale Campus.
