On October 17, Professor DeQuan Smith accompanied the Annandale Campus chapter of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality to the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH) Northeastern Regional Conference at the University of Massachusetts. In their journey to become hospitality professionals, students attended a variety of interactive and professional workshops that emphasized soft skills such as business communication, strategic networking and team building exercises.
Smith cultivated industry relationships toward the kickoff of the second Annual Hospitality Career Expo in late March 2015. A few of the companies planning to participate are Marriott International, Sodexo Corporation, Aramark and Disney.
“We are thrilled about building these new relationships in hopes of building a new generation of true hospitality leaders from NOVA,” Smith said.
The students were excited to return to NOVA to share the wonderful resources with their fellow students and NSMH.
The NOVA NSMH Chapter gives special thanks to Student Life and Smith for playing such an integral role in providing students with the opportunity to explore talents, increase networking opportunities and contribute to the growth of NOVA.
