Woodbridge Arts and Science Building Wins Big The NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association Northern Virginia Awards Gala celebrates significant new contributions to Northern Virginia by the commercial, industrial and mixed-use real estate community.

At the 2014 gala, Woodbridge Provost Sam Hill received the Award of Excellence for the Woodbridge Arts and Science Building in the category of Best Building, Build-to-Suit Institutional Facility over $20 Million.

According to the judges, “the project had two important goals: create a ‘landmark’ building that sets the bar for future development on campus and provide learning and public spaces that are flexible enough for use by students and the community. It hit the mark in an impressive way!” The judges were also impressed by the geothermal energy system which contributed to LEED certification.

Team members for the project included Virginia Community College System, Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and Grimm + Parker Architects.
