In honor of Women’s History Month, the Manassas Campus is hosting an art exhibition called “Inspired by Women,” with a reception to meet the artists scheduled for March 17 from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., in the Colgan Hall gallery.
The exhibition features art produced by women in a variety of styles and mediums. For example, Art Instructor Jessica Gardner (MA) fills her ceramic vessels with organic forms. Wall hangings by Art Instructor Lauren Jacobs (MA) combine cloth with other materials. Vibrant pop images by Art Professor Rosemary Gallick (MA) share wall space with the still life realism of Art History Professor Elizabeth Lynch (WO). Evocative black and white photos taken by Communication Studies and Theatre Professor Kathryn O’Sullivan (MA) capture such dissimilar images as clowns and landscapes. Poetry by English Professor Laura Casal (MA) has been beautifully illustrated by Manassas students.
Notable community members include abstract painter Jessica Jackson; artist Anna Mish, gallery director at the Center for the Arts in Manassas and photographer Lillis Werder.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Colgan Hall gallery is open 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The exhibition continues until April 3.
