The Loudoun Campus and NOVA’s Honors Program is proud to congratulate Allan Edzii for being selected as a Gold Scholar for the Coca-Cola 2015 Community College Academic Team, a program sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and administered by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK).
His selection was based on the score earned in the All-USA Community College Academic Team competition. More than 1,700 applications were received this year. Edzii will be presented with a gold medallion and a check for $1,500 in San Antonio, Texas, at the All-State Academic Team ceremony. In conjunction with this award, PTK is also recognizing him as one of their “Top 10” members in Richmond, Virginia, on April 22.
Originally from Ghana, Edzii graduated from Potomac Falls High School in 2013 and was one of 20 recipients of the NOVA Honors Program Scholarship in 2013. He declined acceptance into a prestigious four-year school to attend NOVA and benefit from its many opportunities, which he says is one of his best decisions. He also received a scholarship in January 2015 based on merit and financial need from the NVCC Educational Foundation to support him with other academic expenses.
His Honors Program campus chair and scholarship advisors are professors Steve Clarke, Stacy Rice and Paul Fitzgerald. They have worked closely with Edzii during his time at NOVA to ensure he was on the right track to graduate with Honors. Loudoun PTK advisors Gert Heslin and Chris Blake have also mentored Edzii to achieve success in his academics.
Edzii plans to transfer to Virginia Tech after completing his associate degree.
