Loudoun Holds Veterinary Externship and Job Fair

General Vet Tech Job Fair ResizedThe Loudoun Campus hosted the fifth annual NOVA Veterinary Technology Externship and Job Fair on April 2 with all 66 on-campus program students in attendance.

There were more than 25 regional small animal veterinary practices and large veterinary specialty referral centers, with two practices from Maryland, seeking NOVA students for summer externs (first-year students), veterinary assistant employment (first- and second-year students) and soon-to-be graduate veterinary technicians. The students brought copies of their resumes for distribution while employers provided practice literature and marketing giveaways.

Loudoun Holds Veterinary Externship and Job Fair A Veterinary Technology program alumnus presented a short seminar to each class of veterinary technology students during the fair on the topic of determining their value to a future veterinary employer. The event was truly a collaborative event.

Faculty and staff who planned and coordinated the evening include Dr. Tregel Cockburn, Linda Karol, work-study Rebekah Johnson, and licensed vet techs Dawn Witter and Linda Schnaible. Many first-year students helped set up and clean up. Zoetis Animal Health, a veterinary pharmaceutical company, sponsored evening refreshments.
