There were more than 25 regional small animal veterinary practices and large veterinary specialty referral centers, with two practices from Maryland, seeking NOVA students for summer externs (first-year students), veterinary assistant employment (first- and second-year students) and soon-to-be graduate veterinary technicians. The students brought copies of their resumes for distribution while employers provided practice literature and marketing giveaways.
A Veterinary Technology program alumnus presented a short seminar to each class of veterinary technology students during the fair on the topic of determining their value to a future veterinary employer. The event was truly a collaborative event.
Faculty and staff who planned and coordinated the evening include Dr. Tregel Cockburn, Linda Karol, work-study Rebekah Johnson, and licensed vet techs Dawn Witter and Linda Schnaible. Many first-year students helped set up and clean up. Zoetis Animal Health, a veterinary pharmaceutical company, sponsored evening refreshments.
