The Alexandria Campus Psychology Department observed Mental Health Awareness Month during April. The keynote event was a screening of the documentary “Happy.” The event was co-sponsored by the Alexandria Women’s Center.
“Happy” is an award-winning film that explores the field of positive psychology and the roots of happiness, showing vignettes of people around the world finding joy in family/friends, purpose and helping others.
A panel discussion followed the screening. Students Henry Hernandez and Yalda Baktash joined Learning and Technology Resources Dean Frances Villagran-Glover on the panel. They each described challenges and discussed how they have maintained resilience and optimism in the face of difficult life events.
