The Medical Education Campus (MEC) physical therapist assistant (PTA) students joined the Northern District Virginia Physical Therapy Association team, Physical Therapists and Friends, for the 2015 Walk Off Parkinson’s disease event.
The event took place September 13 at the Nationals Park. NOVA PTA students joined fellow physical therapists and PTA students from other local programs and their friends and families in supporting persons with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. This event raised money for the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area.
Walk Off Parkinson’s is a free family-friendly walk and fundraising program to support those in the community impacted by the disease. In addition to the self-paced walk ending with a victory lap on the field at Nationals Park, the event also included boxing, dancing and yoga demonstrations, a chance to be seen on the Jumbotron and children’s activities. It was an inspirational gathering to show those with Parkinson’s that they do not face the relentless disease alone.
