Looking for community service opportunities? Look no further than Junior Achievement at Finance Park. NOVA is currently the educational sponsor for Junior Achievement, which empowers young people to own their economic success by providing financial literacy education experiences and real-world perspective of finance – one that is current, practical and easy to understand.
The Junior Achievement Finance Park experience begins in the classroom, with a four-week classroom curriculum that culminates at this 20,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility. Onsite activities are designed to allow students the opportunity to put into action what they have learned in the classroom and understand the basic steps of maintaining a realistic personal budget. These eighth graders are immersed in a reality-based decision-making process that addresses individual and family budgeting, including housing, transportation, food, utilities, health care, investments, philanthropy and banking.
By volunteering, NOVA employees can assist from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as an individual or in groups. Those who volunteer will be contributing to the lifelong success of young students by manning an assigned storefront and providing instructions and guidance to students.
The Junior Achievement Finance Park is located at 4099 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22032 (2.6 miles from the Annandale Campus, 20 to 23 miles from the Woodbridge Campus).
Day-of-training is provided during the first hour, with the eighth graders arriving at 9:30 a.m. To use your 16 hours of volunteer leave, simply bring the Form 105-041: “Community Service & School Participation Leave” with you.
