November Is National Career Development Month

November is National Career Development Month. This is a great time for faculty and staff to think about career development opportunities for students and ways to help them navigate their career paths.

Here are ways you can assist:

  • Encourage students to use the new College Central Network (CCN) to search for jobs and internships specifically for NOVA students by local employers, access career advice and to create resumes and online portfolios.
  • Promote FOCUS 2 to help students to learn about and select majors and occupational fields.
  • Schedule an appointment with a career counselor.
  • Attend a workshop sponsored by Career Services. Sessions are free and open to faculty and staff, students and alumni. Topics include career planning, job searching, and resume writing, among others.

A complete list of National Career Development Month events is available on NOVA’s Events Calendar, on and in the Flyers section of this edition.
