On March 7, the Loudoun Campus, with the Northern Virginia Tax Campaign and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), and Rachelle Thompson of the NOVA’s Working Student Success Network, helped students and community members prepare their taxes and file them electronically. The event drew some who had never prepared their own taxes. The event was aimed at empowering individuals to prepare and file their own straightforward tax returns and to teach people just how easy it can be to file. There are criteria which must be met in order to qualify for the free help, such as a maximum earned income of $54,000 in 2015.
To read more about the criteria and qualifications, and to register for upcoming free sessions, please go online. While it is expected that a session will be scheduled in the intervening weeks, the next tax event at Loudoun is currently on Monday, March 28 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Reynolds Building (LR) Room 249J.
