On March 16 and 17, the State Board for Community Colleges met on the Woodbridge Campus and toured the new Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training. At an evening reception and dinner, they heard the compelling stories of three students who received motivation and encouragement from NOVA programs. The students were Joshua O’Neal from Man Up, Lorena Garcia from Year Up and Mariam Myelle from Achieving the Dream. Dr. Charles Errico organized the program and served as moderator. Richmond Hill and Dr. Frances Villagran-Glover also introduced the student speakers. Impressed with the courage of NOVA students to overcome obstacles and achieve an education, the State Board members and the rest of the audience gave them a standing ovation at the end of the evening.
