The Woodbridge Campus will host Woodbridge Alive! – a free family event filled with live musical performances, art displays, poetry and food trucks on Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Woodbridge Alive! represents the precocious growth of the art community in Prince William County by providing an award-winning venue for local artists, college artists and select high school students to participate in a family-oriented event.
Orchestral performances will be held throughout the event by the Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra, the Youth Orchestra of Prince William and NOVA Dance. The Linton Hall Fife and Drum Corps will perform outside the newly-opened Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training (RCWET). Members of the Prince William Art Society will showcase their work in the Woodbridge Arts and Sciences building (WAS), along with NOVA fine art students and local artist Dora Britton Mohammed. Participants will also enjoy a 500-calorie cook-off and drum battle competition between the Shenandoah Sound Drum Corps and other local drum organizations, which will be held in the lawn area adjacent to the WAS building.
Woodbridge Alive! is a first-time partnership between the Prince William Arts Council and the Woodbridge Campus. The mission of the Prince William Arts Council is to support the local arts community through sponsoring arts instruction, competition and artists’ exhibitions throughout the county. NOVA’s Woodbridge Campus has recently been selected as the site for scholarship recipients of the Chadab Foundation Scholarship for the Visual and Performing Arts. Select students from the Campus, who are majoring in fine arts, are awarded a $500 scholarship to improve and further develop their artistic abilities. As a means to contribute to this cause, a silent auction will be held in the RCWET on April 30.
Free parking is available throughout the Campus on the day of the event. For additional information about Woodbridge Alive! contact Event Coordinator Torland Greene at 703.878.4611 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
