The 44th annual conference of the Southern Regional Honors Council (SRHC) under the theme of “The Magic of Honors” took place in Orlando, Florida, March 31 to April 2. The annual conference provides an outstanding opportunity for NOVA’s Honors students to interact with fellow Honors students from institutions across the Southeast. Moreover, such a conference permits the dissemination of Honors student research and creative work and sharing of administrative and faculty best practices. The SRHC is currently comprised of 105 member institutions. NOVA was well represented at the conference.

The NOVA Honors Program was excited to send six of the College’s best and brightest Honors students to participate in this conference. All of NOVA student participants presented some of their most thought-provoking research assignments that were initially undertaken in their Honors courses. Their research topics ranged from the reconstruction of Armenia to the economic implications of global oil production levels. Along with the students, several Honors faculty chairs – Professor Stacy Rice, Dr. Paul Fitzgerald and Dr. John Sound – also presented how NOVA’s Honors Program can be replicated at other institutions for the betterment of Honors programs nationwide.
