Student Life hosted a variety of events during this year’s Welcome Week, held the week of August 22. Information stations and special activities were planned to ensure students had a great start to the new academic year. New and returning students learned what the Medical Education Campus (MEC) has to offer. Everything from tips to navigate the system, advisement reports, getting fiscally fit, financial aid, MEC passports, NOVACares, NOVACard services, blood drive, volunteerism, club membership and how to serve and give back to the community.
Students also enjoyed other engaging activities, music, giveaways and amazing food. The highlights in this category were the “Down Home Lunch” on Wednesday afternoon in the Corker’s Patio for the day students and the “Welcome Back Evening Event with Comic Hypnotist Dan Lornitis” on Thursday evening in the Foley Forum for the night students.
The goal was to make sure that every student feels welcome and is comfortable as a part of the MEC community. Approximately 500 participated in the week’s scheduled events. The week provided students, faculty, staff and community resource members an opportunity to mingle, have fun and get inspired for the academic year ahead.
