YOUR Student Success Conference: Helping Students Start & Stay Strong

YOUR Student Success Conference: Helping Students Start & Stay StrongKnowing about available resources and assistance points are key to our students’ success. This year, all campuses across the College collaborated together and hosted a YOUR Student Success Conference aimed at helping students start and stay strong throughout the semester. Learning and Technology Resources (LTR), Student Services, Student Life and NOVA Police were some of the units that provided informational sessions for students on academic support topics such as Blackboard basics, campus safety and study skills.

In addition to providing academic support sessions, each campus coordinated gamification activities that encouraged students to visit campus support offices via scavenger hunts and games. The most popular activity was “Networking with Faculty,” which allowed faculty and students to get to know each other outside the classroom.

Data from the outcomes of the conference were collected and will be used in conjunction with Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) data. This event was supported by NOVA’s Achieving the Dream program.
