On September 24, members from the Manassas Mathematics Department faculty and students participated in the VDOT Adopt-A-Highway road cleanup campaign. Participants included faculty Chin Hettitantri, Shakil Shrestha and Matthew Westerhoff and NOVA student Kiran Ansar from Westerhoff’ s MTH 173 class.

They collected 10 bags of debris on approximately 1 mile stretch of road (Featherbed Lane inside the Manassas Battlefield Parkway) during the two and a half hour period. All of them were very surprised on how much debris there was on the road and are very proud they were able to make a positive impact on the environment.
