Kirkland Appointed to a New NCAA Commission on Campus Sexual Violence Connie Kirkland, director of NOVACares and Sexual Assault Services, has recently been appointed to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Board of Governors Commission to Combat Campus Sexual Violence.

This new commission was created in September 2016 to review current NCAA procedures and policies regarding how issues of campus sexual violence involving student-athletes and/or athletics personnel are handled. The Commission is co-chaired by Lt. General Robert Caslen of the U.S. Military Academy and Carol Quillen, president of Davidson College.

Kirkland is one of the authors of “Addressing Sexual Assault and Interpersonal Violence: Athletics’ Role in Support of Healthy and Safe Campuses,” published by the NCAA in 2014.
