On October 29, Deidre Howard (Campus and Community Relations) was invited to represent the Manassas Campus at CommonHealth’s 30th Anniversary Agency Coordinator Meeting at Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia.

Amy Moore, Common Health regional coordinator for Northern Virginia, spoke about current and future health campaigns to the agency coordinators at the meeting. The current “Get a Grip” Campaign talks about bone and joint pain. From January 2017 to June 2017 the focus will be on learning more about getting more fiber in your diet. For more information on the campaigns, go online.

Secretary of Administration Nancy Rodrigues was a special guest and shared information on The Virginia Women’s Monument that will be built in Richmond to honor 400 years of women in Virginia history.

After the speakers, there was a catered lunch and the 25 agency coordinators were able to share information with each other. Participants were given a tour of the Equine Facility from Cathy Duerbeck and Sonya Kessler and learned about the equine medical facility. Everyone was able to watch a horse having surgery on his legs and then being transported to the recovery room.

It was an exciting day learning about health and wellness, visiting with old and new friends and seeing the Equine Facility. For more information, visit http://www.vetmed.vt.edu.
