On November 4 the Science Seminar Committee; Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Division; and the Lyceum Committee, Annandale Campus presented “The Science of Learning – How to Be a Better Student” by Professor Robert Loser, retired NOVA instructional designer.
The presentation focused on The Nature of Learning, Academic Learning and Learning Strategies.
Individuals are all natural learners, gifted by evolution with brains that cannot help but learn. Why, then, can classroom learning be such hard work? Participants looked at the research on learning for explanations and for learning strategies that have been proven more effective than the ones we often use intuitively. This session helped attendees understand how brains learn so that individuals can better manage their own education.
NOVA Video Services recorded the event and you can watch it online.
