The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) held a New Faculty Orientation (NFO) Series #7 at the Woodbridge Campus on February 24. It was an innovative and useful “Instructional Technology Round-Robin Experience” focusing on engaged learning facilitated by NOVA’s intercampus Learning and Technology Resources (LTR) and Extended Learning Institute (ELI) team Patricia Cooper, Matt Fox, Kirstin Riddick, Hector Revollo, Kama Story, Bo Yang and Hong Wang.
Four stations discussed and instructed incorporating “Gamification in Instruction,” “Making Life Easier With Google Apps,” “Engaged Learning With Blackboard” and “Digital Storytelling Using Adobe Spark.” Additionally, new and easy to incorporate concepts to enhance the teacher/student interactions were tested in a thoroughly fun and informative presentation.
New faculty were encouraged to contribute feedback for the last two sessions to continue to provide instructive information needed for first-year faculty.
