Learning and Technology Resource (LTR) Professional Development Day was held March 9. Members from all the campuses LTR Division gathered at the Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training of the Woodbridge Campus for an opportunity to share, learn and grow from each other’s expertise and experience. The theme was “Keepin’ It REAL: Reflect, Energize, Achieve and Lead.”
A multi-campus committee planned the event and a variety of sessions were planned in keeping with the theme. Dr. Frances Villagran-Glover gave an update on the strategic planning process and Dr. Julie Leidig (Loudoun Campus Provost) provided the keynote address. Officer Juan Cardenas led a session on “Self-Defense Considerations.” Kathleen Odige and Del Williams lead a workshop based on Carol Dweck’s book “Mindset” and how that research can be used to craft tutoring strategies. Imran Kukdawala showed how to use Office Mix to turn PowerPoint presentations into interactive online lessons. Allan Phoenix gave a demonstration of WinClone. There were sessions on virtual reality, College governance, creating online videos and managing technology and much more.
The event was designed to help LTR staff achieve and lead in the coming year. To top the day off, there were also some more energizing activities — a knitting lounge and juggling lessons.
