NOVA Dental Hygiene Participates in First “It’s Hygienic” Event

NOVA Dental Hygiene Participates in First “It’s Hygienic” Event The first “It’s Hygienic” competition was held on March 18. All the dental hygiene programs in the Commonwealth were invited to participate in the event in Richmond, Virginia. “It’s Hygienic” is a game show for second-year dental hygiene students preparing for the licensing exams. The game follows the format and subjects of the Dental Hygiene National Board Exam (DHNBE).

Each program could have a team of five students. Three teams, including the Medical Education Campus (MEC), were represented. The MEC team won second place in the competition. Students on the team included Stephanie Bettis from the Germanna Community College cohort, and Medical Education Campus students Winnie Fernandez, Laurie Jimenez, Amanda Morris and Sarah Nelson. The team faculty mentor was Jan O’Brien. Other second year students and faculty attended the event to cheer on the team.
