NOVA Student Services and Enrollment Management and the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) convened at the Regional Center for Workforce Education and Training (WRC) for a Level One Civil Rights Investigator Certification Course on September 20 and 21. The event was hosted by NOVA Associate Vice President Elizabeth Harper, who is an ATIXA advisory board member. Faculty and staff from 32 higher education institutions attended the training.
Acclaimed speaker Daniel Swinton, dean and director of student conduct and academic integrity at Vanderbilt University and associate executive director of ATIXA, was the presenter. The two-day course provided foundational knowledge and skills for civil rights investigators, deputies and Title IX coordinators/administrators that perform and/or oversee campus investigations.
