Now that autumn is upon us, faculty and staff members from the Annandale Campus look back fondly to warmer weather when they staffed a booth at the annual Celebrate Fairfax festival, held June 6 to 9 on the grounds of the Fairfax County Government Center.
“It was a very nice experience to work with my NOVA colleagues,” said Dr. Rima Gulshan, English professor, “and a conducive way of reaching out to the community and providing information to them.”
The NOVA information table was staffed during the entire festival with the crowds estimated at 27,000 on Friday evening, 36,000 on Saturday, and 17,000 during the day on Sunday. Elsewhere at the festival, NOVA’s SySTEMic Solutions set up a demonstration area aimed at younger festival goers to display the VEX Robotics program.
“Despite the extreme heat, it was a wonderful experience,” said Counselor Jessie Zahorian. “I really liked being able to talk to prospective students and speak with colleagues who were staffing the table with me.”
Gulshan said, “Our NOVA information booth was a success!”
