Learning and Technology Resources (LTR) and Student Services planned and held Your Student Success Conference on October 17. The conference was sponsored by the Medical Education Campus’ (MEC) Achieving the Dream team.
The purpose of the conference was to help students to not only start strong but to stay and finish strong by reminding them about tools and resources available to them while attending NOVA. The departments that participated included the library, financial aid, open computer lab, tutoring, registrar, NOVACares/Sexual Assault Services, Career Services, simulation (anatomy table demo), NOVA Police, Student Life and representatives from the Richard Byrd Public Library and Trinity College.
The conference was held in the Foley Forum and classrooms on campus. It provided an intimate portrait of life at the MEC and other resources to help students be successful at NOVA and beyond. The informal sessions included: a graduation crash course, NOVACares/Sexual Assault Services information, “What the Heck Is APA?,” “Apps for Education,” “What’s Your Learning Style?,” financial aid scholarships and loan repayment, library fun and games, resume techniques, MEC social media platforms, social media etiquette, NOVA Police services and public library services.
Students were provided with a light lunch and the event was well received by attendees. Through the collaborative efforts of Student Services and LTR staff members, the conference was truly a success.
