LO Profs. Awarded Chancellor’s Commonwealth Professorship

After the Global Spotlight Luncheon during this year’s annual American Association of Community Colleges convention in April, NOVA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Goias, a central state in Brazil. Ann Turpyn: 40 Years of Service

At the end of April, the Woodbridge Campus celebrated and said goodbye to Circulation Librarian Ann Turpyn who is retiring after 40 years at NOVA. Turpyn began at the Annandale Campus in 1972 as a library assistant under head librarian Lois Smith.  In 1977, Turpyn transferred to the Woodbridge Campus and worked with Dr. Gordon Cook who was the director at the time. On May 7, the Loudoun Campus Science Division celebrated Ellen Goldberg’s retirement. She began teaching accounting at the College in 1979. The semi-annual Bill Shonk Memorial Golf tournament took place at Pinecrest Golf Course Friday, May 4. Twenty NOVA faculty, staff and students played in the Best Ball tournament. Annandale Biology Professor Leads Watershed Cleanup

Dr. Karen Bushaw-Newton (AN) led 10 of her biology students on a cleanup of the Accotink Creek Watershed near Thaiss Park on April 21. More Students Complete Technology Retraining Internship Program

Recently, the latest group of Technology Retraining internship Program (TRiP) students received their certificates.  Each student received the Network Technician Certificate which represents 66 hours of hands-on network training.
