If you’re wondering what my classes are like, here’s some information on each below.

Engines 1 – The perfect course for beginners and advanced students alike! In this course you’ll find we spend lots of time in the lab learning diagnostic techniques and repair procedures hands-on.  Many times there’s opportunities to bring your own vehicle in for quick services like oil changes and coolant flushes.  We also play a few games along the way and watch videos during lunch for educational purposes, but sometimes just for fun.  Tests are open book and done at home online for review next class.

Main topics include:

  • Cooling & Lubrication Systems
  • Four-Stroke Cycle and Engine Designs
  • Basic Engine Diagnostics
  • Timing Belts
  • Multi-Point Inspections
  • A splash of electricity and Hybrid safety

Electricity 1 – Often the most feared subject, electricity 1 gives everyone plenty of opportunities to begin understanding the basics of electricity.  Starting with electrical training boards in the classroom, we spend lots of time using our hands to connect theory to application that will be used for all the electrical systems you’ll work on!  Given that electricity can be a bit tricky for many people, we take our time to ensure everyone will get it.  Tests are open book and done at home for review next class.

Main topics include:

  • Batteries
  • Starters
  • Alternators
  • Simple Series Circuits
  • Simple Parallel Circuits
  • Basic Diagnostics with Multimeters

Electricity 2 – This is where you get to practice electrical troubleshooting and repair order write up every class.  At the end of this class, students will become more confident in applying the basics of electricity to all the different systems that use electricity today.  Many students will be able to attempt and pass the ASE exam if they choose.
