Full-time and adjunct faculty are invited to join us for a demonstration of active classroom technology and techniques that will engage your students in learning. Jayson Brazelle of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical School will run through some easy activities you can incorporate right away- no matter which discipline you teach!

Active Shooter Response and Campus Safety

Active shooter incidents are increasing in frequency and lethality.  How would you respond?  This training explains why active shooter incidents occur, three response options, how to stay safe during law enforcement’s response, and steps NOVA police have taken to minimize  the likelihood and consequences such event.

Power Up Your Pedagogy (PUP) conference

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is sponsoring an award-winning Power Up Your Pedagogy (PUP) conference on January 7, 2016, at the Ersnt Cultural Center on the Annandale Campus. PUP is inclusive! It is for teaching and professional faculty, staff who work with students and anyone who supports our teaching mission.

There are GREAT sessions in this year’s program!
Would you like to hear NOVA’s provosts discuss their path to leadership or learn about open educational resources and how to implement them? There will be a terrific discussion on the major challenges facing the VCCS. What about ways to collaborate in hybrid course development or mindful course design? There will be sessions on assessing your students and the Tao of lab science and cultivating critical thinking. In addition, there will be more than 40 other informative sessions for you to incorporate into your own teaching practices.

Skills for Calming Confrontations Workshop – Dec. 8 at Loudoun Campus

Last Call for APDD Proposals

Planning for our January 9 Loudoun Adjunct Professional Development Day is underway.  As always, we appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and skills with our adjuncts in the way of leading a professional development workshop for APDD.  Whether it be promoting student success, building meaningful curriculum, building student or professional relationships, or another appropriate professional development topic, we welcome your proposals for workshops at this time.

Please send the title for your proposed workshop along with a description in 50 words or less to snicholson@nvcc.edu

The deadline for APDD proposal submission is quickly approaching – November 4.

Loudon Adjunct Professional Development Program

As an experienced leadership adjunct you are invited to attend a conversation on the future direction of the Loudoun Adjunct Professional Development Program.

WHEN: Tuesday October 13, 2015 6:30-7:30 p.m.

WHERE: LR 3rd Floor Open Area

The Loudoun APDP has focused on new adjuncts and our Tier 2 Program. We would like to expand professional development opportunities to experienced adjuncts—what we refer to as the Tier 3 Leadership. We want your input on how Loudon can support continuing professional development for adjuncts after completion of Tier 2. We are also interested in your input on how the Tier 2 project can be strengthened.
