Congratulations to Manassas author Kathryn O’Sullivan on the publication of her newest novel, Foal Play. The Manassas library has posted various displays of Ms. O’Sullivan’s work in the library. About Kathryn

Kathryn O’Sullivan’s mystery novel Foal Play won the 2012 Malice Domestic Best First Traditional Mystery Novel Competition. She is the Co-Executive Producer, Creator, and Writer of the multi-award-winning Western web series Thurston. Her works have been seen at the American Globe Theatre, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Flashpoint’s Mead Theatre Lab, The Source Theatre, The Theatre Lab, and at play and film festivals across the country. She is the recipient of the Mary Marlin Fisher Playwriting Award, an American Association of University Women Educational Foundation playwriting grant, a Shubert Fellowship, and an Individual Artist Award in Playwriting from the Maryland State Arts Council. She was twice named Faculty of the Year at Northern Virginia Community College where she is a theatre professor and a President’s Sabbatical Awardee. She has collaborated with Paul Award, her husband and an award-winning director and cinematographer, on a dozen projects including her play “Lot Lizards” which is published in “The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2011” (Smith & Kraus). ”Moving Day” will be published in “The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2014″ (Smith & Kraus) and she is currently working on Murder on the Hoof, the second book in the Colleen McCabe mystery series due out in spring 2014. She holds a BA from Boston College, an MA from Hofstra University, an MA from Loyola University Maryland, and an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. She is a member of The Dramatists Guild, Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and Romance Writers of America. She lives in Virginia with her husband and their rascally rescue cat, Oscar.
The Manassas Library and the Office of Student Life to Offer Workshops on Student Success
The Library is working with Student Services to present a number of midday workshops designed to help prepare students for college success! The first workshop will be held tomorrow, August 28th from 1pm-2pm in the Library Classroom. Additional workshops will be posted throughout the semester.

Research Tutoring Now Available By Appointment
The Manassas Library has partnered with our Tutoring Center to begin providing students with scheduled one-on-one time to work with library staff. Patrons may now sign up for individualized sessions through our Online Appointment Scheduling System.

Appointments can be made up to 7 days in advance!
In addition to this new service, Manassas still offers walk-in reference service during our normal business hours and NOVA Libraries offers the 24/7 Chat With A Librarian feature for anyone needing assistance after hours.
