Know Your Assignment and Testing Due Dates

One of the assumptions students have about an online class is that the work can be completed and submitted anytime. Although you can complete the work at your convenience, you must maintain pace and submit the assignments/exams by the due date. Failure to do so, can result in being withdrawn without a tuition refund.

To stay on track and maintain pace, NOVA Online courses have firm assignment and exam due dates so it is important to sign in on the start date and become familiar with the course requirements. Pay close attention to your due dates. Students who do not log in and participate in their online learning class by the First Assignment Due Date (last day to drop with a tuition refund-census date) will be administratively deleted from the class. There will be no record of the class and tuition will not be refunded.  Likewise, many classes have checkpoints where you can be dropped if you are not maintaining pace with your assignments.

Promote your success:

  • Log into your class on the start date. Log in and take time to review your assignments and course calendar. Familiarize yourself with the deadlines and record them in your planner or use the Canvas calendar.

  • Develop a plan to maintain pace. Need help with time management, take a few minutes to watch our free Time Management workshop, click here.

  • Stay engaged, think of your online class as a campus class and log in regularly. Review the discussion board and course announcements—

  • Do not wait until the last day to take your exams or submit your assignments – you never know what might come up at the last minute.

With proper planning and dedication, you can promote your success!
